Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Tubular Products - Birmingham is seeking applicants for Mill Maintenance Specialist. The Specialist will safely provide support to the Birmingham team by:

  • Being a leader in safety.
  • Ensuring spare parts are identified and available.
  • Grow the Preventive/Predictive Maintenance program.
  • Serves as a technical expert for Maintenance Technicians and Operations.
  • Proactively identify work to be performed in order to minimize downtime.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve equipment performance.
  • Prepare and organize jobs to be performed during scheduled and unscheduled down time and down days.
  • Works hands on with the team to execute jobs.
  • Works with vendors, OEM’s and outside sources when support is needed.
  • Ensure work is executed with a high level of quality and workmanship.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree and/or a minimum of 5 year's experience in applicable heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Willingness to work straight days, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Available for on call as needed.  
  • Must be able to develop LOTO procedures, train the team on our LOTO policy and practice.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper communication skills with all departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive mechanical, powertrain, pneumatic and fluid power maintenance experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of LOTOTO .
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, CMMS.
  • Proficient in understanding mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
