Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Tubular Products – Birmingham is seeking to fill the position of Maintenance Lead. The Maintenance Lead's first priority will be to nurture a safety-minded culture by encouraging teammates to identify safety issues within the department and assist as needed with the elimination of these issues. The second priority will be to foster an atmosphere where teammates are trusted and empowered to make decisions that positively affect safety, reliability, quality, and cost reduction. Other responsibilities include prioritizing daily work, breakdowns and scheduling resources for down days. A major emphasis will be on improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs to increase reliability as well as team training and development. Team Leaders are expected to work collaboratively with leadership, communicating and supporting divisional goals with their teams in terms of safety, operations, and other duties as assigned.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years’ experience in multi-craft Maintenance.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two- or four-year technical degree or equivalent
- Experience in a leadership role
- Electrical Knowledge: Knowledge of (basic) electrical theory, including (basic) troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or maintenance of electronic equipment.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and/or maintenance.
- Maintenance Processes: Knowledge of working with CMMS system using work order and preventative maintenance programs
- Communication Skills: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
- Accountability: Displays responsibility with work habits and has the ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
- Problem Solving: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Time Management: Managing one's own time and/or the time of others.
- Leadership Presence and Courage: Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
