NTP Birmingham - EHS Intern

Basic Job Functions:

• Actively promote environmental, health and safety and work towards an incident free workplace
• Work alongside the EHS Supervisor and other teammates and departments to promote and enhance Nucor’s safety, health and environmental processes
• Assist in the continual development, organization, review and maintenance of safety records and training
• Engage in various environmental, health and safety projects, including improvement initiatives and software system administration
• Assist in assessing job tasks for hazards, identifying root causes in an incident and finding effective corrective actions to minimize future risk

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum sophomore standing
• Current student working towards a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work onsite at NTP-Birmingham year-round in some capacity.
• Safety/Emergency services certifications
• Willingness and ability to travel 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
