NSBHM Ladleman

Basic Job Functions:

The role of Ladleman includes, but is not limited to, the safe installation, inspection and maintenance of ladle refractory such as stir plugs, plates, and nozzles.  Additional responsibilities will include inspection of ladle brick and blocks, maintenance of the slide gate and stir plug hardware, and ladle tracking.  Furthermore, the candidate will train and assist with other areas of the shop as deemed necessary by the area Lead or Supervisor. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least one-year industrial work experience
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Willing and able to run mobile equipment and cranes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Melt Shop experience
• Mobile equipment and overhead crane operation
• Knowledge of ladle refractories, consumable components and Gate Maintenance
