Basic Job Functions:

  • Act as the Responsible Engineer for all rotating machinery (compressors, blowers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.) on assigned project throughout the proposal, engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Responsible for the development of the engineering design documentation (specifications, data sheets, inspection and test plan, scope of work, etc.) in accordance with the applicable codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Assist and direct the design team for the development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, drawings, BOM, etc.
  • Coordinate equipment engineering activities with internal and external engineering resources to produce engineering deliverables on schedule and within budget.
  • Participate in weekly project team meetings and provide progress status on equipment design and procurement.
  • Develop bid and purchase packages, issue requests for quotations, bid evaluations, and purchase requisitions.
  • Review, validate, and approve vendors proposals, calculations, drawings and documentation.
  • Witness machinery testing at the vendor manufacturing site.
  • Participate in equipment installation, commissioning and start-up, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Develop vibration monitoring program, analyze machinery vibration data, and develop corrective and preventive plans.
  • Provide UIG’ operation team with machinery engineering support, and oversee repairs, upgrades, testing and inspections of rotating machinery within UIG plants network.
  • Primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and plant operation on assigned technical scope.
  • Assists in development of department best practices, processes, procedures, tools, as well as standard specifications and data sheets.
  • Collect and maintain Lessons Learned log and assist with the company continuous improvement effort.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design of industrial rotating equipment in Industrial Gases, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Experience in selecting and specifying process rotating equipment and associated systems such as Compressors (Reciprocating, Centrifugal), Blowers, Pumps, Gearboxes, Steam Turbines, cooling towers, etc. in accordance with the industry standards, such as API, ASME, IEC, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of machinery vibration analysis, FAT inspection, and performance testing evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to review and validate supplier calculations, drawings and documentation for purchased equipment compliance to codes and project specifications.
  • Excellent computer and Microsoft Office Software skills.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal as well as effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Detailed knowledge of various types of machinery equipment for Air Separation Plants.
  2. Experience commissioning, starting up and troubleshooting of rotating machinery.
  3. Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Management of Change (MOC).
  4. Experience with developing and maintaining engineering specifications, data sheets, procedures, Excel engineering spreadsheets and engineering management tools.
