Basic Job Functions:

 

This is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting various Safety programs. The individual will primarily be responsible for assisting with implementing corrective actions identified through various means to improve the safety environment, as well as the coordination of various other safety initiatives and training.  The successful candidate for this position must be able to administer policies and procedures in accordance with established local, state and federal requirements.
 

Related Job Duties:

  • Champion safety by monitoring and observing employees working on the production floor and identifying hazards and effectively communicating those hazards to employees.
  • Maintain first aid cabinet supplies.
  • Inspect fire extinguisher, eye wash station and other safety related equipment.
  • Monitor various monthly inspection programs. (i.e. fork trucks, pallet racks).
  • Conduct training (i.e. Fork Truck Training). Monitor, train and evaluate current and future fork truck drivers.
  • Conduct various EHS related training for 2nd shift employees.
  • Complete incident investigations for 2nd shift.
  • Assist with follow up on closure of incident reports.
  • Provide constructive feedback and communication when issues are discovered that need to be addressed.
  • Maintain and promote positive attitude, teamwork and cooperation.
  • Drive safety initiatives in work areas.
  •  Review chemicals on site and verify current (M)SDS (Safety Data Sheets) are in the online system.
  • Perform Various other duties relating to EHS as assigned.
     

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Compensation Data

Wage Range: $21.64-$26.29/hour + Annual ROA Bonus

 

 

ROA Bonus

ROA Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon company performance each year, up to 33% of annual salary. 

 

Profit-Sharing

10% of Nucor’s pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year previous general labor and/or customer service experience.
  • Ability to participate and complete additional training as identified (i.e. OSHA 30-hour Hazard Analysis)
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other C.H.I. Overhead Doors locations as well as Nucor enterprise locations for audits and training purposes
  • Travel requirements are infrequent but necessary to support quality assurance and professional development initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and/or through written communication with all levels of personnel within the Company and with federal, state and local safety regulators.
  • Ability to organize daily tasks and work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to form strong team relationships with plant managers and supervisors.
  • Experience using personal computers in a work environment for spreadsheet and document presentation.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
  • First Responder/EMT certification or willingness to obtain. 
  • OSHA Voluntary Protection Program experience.
