Basic Job Functions:

Roll Form Operators manufacture steel garage door components — pans and skins — used by assembly lines to produce finished C.H.I. steel garage doors. Operators are responsible for the full production cycle from machine startup through quality-verified production runs to end-of-shift shutdown.

  • Complete machine startup sequence at the beginning of each shift, including uncoiler, embosser, leveler, and press.
  • Review run order and prepare machines for production start according to the shift's production schedule.
  • Perform quality check process on each product run — gauging, measuring, checking stamp placement, shadow lines, width, and profile to verify finished pans and skins meet specification.
  • Make all required machine adjustments until product is aligned to spec before beginning production run.
  • Execute production runs, maintaining production standards without compromising quality.
  • Change coils using a forklift — remove spent coils and load new coils onto the uncoiler as needed throughout the shift.
  • Change dies in and out of the press using a forklift. Restart quality check process and re-adjust machine settings after every coil or die change.
  • Hand-load finished pans and skins onto carts for retrieval by warehouse teammates and placement into stock.
  • Perform basic machine troubleshooting on assigned equipment. Notify supervisor of any issues requiring maintenance beyond operator scope.
  • Document quality check results on the designated paper form throughout the shift.
  • Program the touchscreen interface to log product changes as the run order progresses during the shift.
  • Complete end-of-shift machine shutdown sequence, reversing startup procedures for all assigned equipment.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
