Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
The maintenance technician position performs highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support achieving the site’s business goals and objectives.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Use various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Compensation Data
$22.60-$26.91 Hourly + Weekly Production Bonus Example: Hourly Base Rate = $22.60 Weekly Production Bonus = 55%. Total Hourly Rate = $35.03
Production Bonus
Production Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon attaining production goals each week. Production Bonus is paid out weekly.
Profit-Sharing
10% of Nucor’s pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent years of education and production maintenance experience.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
- 8+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience.
- VFD & Servo Drive System experience
- CNC machine maintenance and troubleshooting
