Basic Job Functions:

 

Summary:

 

The Human Resources Generalist position supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. Support areas include benefits administration, employee engagement and development, recruitment, and employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist is pivotal in helping management and staff understand policies, practices, and protocols.

 

Additional Functions:

  • Provides support, guidance, and direction to employees regarding benefits programs.
  • Orients new employees to benefits.
  • Processes new hire benefit paperwork, open enrollment, and qualifying event changes.
  • Assists in coordinating benefit open enrollment meetings.
  • Processes claims for worker's compensation, STD/LTD, and unemployment
  • Recruitment:
    • Provides support for recruitment and selection of staff for non-production positions.
    • Participates in onboarding non-production new hires by conducting background checks, new hire paperwork, and I-9 processing.
    • Participates in salary surveys to determine competitive wages and benefits.
    • Participates in activities with local school districts, colleges, and universities to strengthen C.H.I's presence and contributions to the community.
    • May assist with career and job fairs.
  • Employee Engagement and Development:
    • Assists in the performance review process for hourly employees, including scheduling and attending alignment meetings and assessing the reviews.
    • Works with supervisors and management team to monitor performance management process, including identifying and addressing performance issues and developing and implementing performance improvement plans.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Assists in the planning and execution of employee engagement events and activities.
    • Guides supervisors and managers in resolving complex employee relations issues. May conduct related investigations.
    • Assist with other verification inquiries.\
  • Other:
    • Stays current on the company's organizational structure, policies and procedures, benefits, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Associate's degree or  two years equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate flexibility
