Day Cab Driver (CDL-A)

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. 

The Day Cab Driver (CDL Class A) role is a local, home daily position, responsible for operating commercial motor vehicle tractors and trailers in compliance with FMCSA regulations to transport goods on public highways and company property. This is a physically demanding position which will involve lifting 80+ pounds in a unique trailer environment. This could include using forklifts, jacks, carts, racks, pallets, moving boxes, packages, or other support components. All routes originate and terminate in Arthur, Illinois or Terre Haute, Indiana so residing near one of these areas is ideal. 

Eligible candidates will:

• Be at least 21 years of age 
• Possess a valid CDL-A license 
• Possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be eligible to receive one prior to hire  

Additional Functions

• Properly follow company, OSHA, and FMCSA safety procedures
• Perform daily inspections of truck and report any defects or needed repairs 
• Clean truck as needed  
• Pickup materials from suppliers
• Deliver, move, stack, and unload all forms of C.H.I. doors and products 
• “Drop & Hook” trailer movements 
• Operate tractor-trailers and straight trucks
• Operate yard trucks to fill in as needed 
• Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Pay Grade 9 - $21.84 + Weekly Production Bonus Example: Hourly Base Rate = 21.84 Weekly Production Bonus = 55%. Total Hourly Rate = 33.85

Production Bonus

Production Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon attaining production goals each week. Production Bonus is paid out weekly.

Profit-Sharing

10% of Nucor’s pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of verifiable driving experience in a CMV
• Flatbed experience
