Purchasing Manager

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for building, leading, and developing the Purchasing team and will be expected to build procurement solutions for the business for a greenfield startup facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, directing and coordinating all purchasing activities, negotiating and enforcing Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions, developing and maintaining relationships with key vendors/contractors, contributing to Nucor enterprise-wide purchasing efforts, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, and coordinating with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes.

Nucor Steel West Virginia's is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., Nucor Steel West Virginia will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future. 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior leadership experience in purchasing or related field 
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• ERP system experience
