PLTCM Operator

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking candidates for the position of PLTCM Operator. This operator will support the Cold Mill efforts to become the world's safest steel company. This position is an integral member of the Cold Mill team and will be responsible for leading the efforts to continually improve our safety, profitability, and operational innovation. This will include engagement in a culture of ownership, communication, and teamwork. The Operator role and responsibilities support areas of the pickle line process including trimming, coating, and inspecting the steel along with managing the systems associated with these tasks. This also includes surface inspection and managing quality defects.

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational in 2028. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills.

This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Salary $120,000.00-$137,000.00 (Compensation Range varies based on experience and is a full compensation package including a variable incentive during construction phase.)

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of experience on a pickle line or cold mill

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Steel surface and quality inspection including defect identification
• Experience in Pickle Lines, Tandem Cold Rolling, Reversing Cold Rolling/Tempering, Annealing, Roll Shops
• Sheet mill experience
• Prior construction/project experience
• Experience with Micrometers and Tape Measures
• Experience with crane operations
• Experience with mobile equipment
• Basic understanding of how automation works (Sensors, sequences, and control loop).
• Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting (pumps, valves, cylinders)
