Basic Job Functions:
The Melt & Cast Process Engineer provides a support role in the department's decision making in relation to operations and maintenance of the EAFs, LMFs, vacuum degassers and caster as well as supporting equpiment. The Engineer provides process development and technical support operations for the Melt Shop to ensure optimization of manufacturing processes for steel sheets, customer-specific requirements for new high-end quality steel sheets products, manufacturing reliability, operations, and maintenance requirements. Using data integration and statistical analysis, the Process Engineer monitors and analyzes the process and equipment conditions to draw conclusions driving equipment maintenance, improvements, and upgrades.
The Melt & Cast Process Engineer develops and conducts technical training for the Melt Shop team as required for safe and effective operation to provide quality steel on time. In addition to other related duties, the Melt & Caster Process Engineer will assume a leading role in process improvement as well as coordinating quality and cost reduction efforts.
Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Four year degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Process Control, Material Science or a directly related field of study.
• Three years of industry experience in engineering process support for rolling mill production in steel making.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Experience with ibaPDA and ibaAnalyzer software
- EAF experience.
- Thin slab caster experience
- Technical training experience.
Experience leading cross-functional teams.
