Hot Mill Roll Shop Lead

Basic Job Functions:

The Nucor Steel West Virginia Roll Shop Team Leader must drive Nucor's safety culture and be willing to take responsibility for self and others by setting an example for others to follow. The roll shop team leader is primarily responsible for supporting and leading our roll shop operations, including directing, planning, organizing, managing roll shop inventory including rolls, and executing the work activities of the roll shop team.  In addition, the roll shop team leader will be responsible for communicating with the hot mill team and support continual improvement efforts in the hot mill. Ability to work shift work, scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.

Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational in 2026. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years prior leadership experience
• Roll shop experience
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to travel for training, possibly for extended periods of time, pre and post commissioning

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior roll shop leadership experience 
• Prior construction/project experience
• Sheet mill experience
• Electrical and mechanical maintenance knowledge
