Hot Mill Operator

Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Mill Operator includes, but is not limited to, safely operating Hot Mill equipment to produce quality steel products that meet our quality criteria as defined by our customers’ requirements. This includes the monitoring and testing of various systems in the mill. The mill operator will be responsible for supporting the Leadership team with the safety, teammate development, housekeeping, quality, and runtime of the mill. The Mill Operator must interact effectively with hot mill teammates in a fast-paced, production environment. Ability to work rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.

Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of manufacturing experience or equivalent
• Ability to travel for training, possibly for extended periods of time, pre and post commissioning

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year steel or industrial metal experience
• Experience with monitoring product quality
• Electrical and mechanical maintenance knowledge
• Prior construction/project experience
• Sheet mill experience.
