Hot Metal Crane Operator

Basic Job Functions:

Responsibilities of the Hot Metal Crane Operator includes but are not limited to safely performing all tasks associated with operating and maintaining the ladle crane and supporting the Melt Shop operation. Responsibilities also include: handling ladles in hot metal isle, working with the maintenance team to maintain the crane, picking up supplies and mobile equipment and moving them up to the deck, and planning crane moves. Additionally, the Ladle Crane Operator is expected to help with other Melt Shop positions at the hot metal isle as needed. The Ladle Crane Operator must complete the crane certification. Nucor teammates are expected to participate in and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and team work. Candidate must be flexible to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, some night shifts and weekends. As the construction phase progresses, the shift will change to a 4 on and 4 off position.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Seven years of Hot Metal or Ladle crane experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current or previous experience working in Melt Shop
• Understanding the basic steel making process
