Galvanizing Pot Equipment Technician

Basic Job Functions:

The Galvanizing Pot Equipment Technician is an integral part of the Galvanizing team, with a primary responsibility to lead and support efforts that improve safety, reliability, and cost management across the operation. The Pot Equipment Technician is responsible for assembling and installing pot line equipment, including zinc inventory, air knives, and roll inventory. A key part of this role involves supporting the commissioning and start up phases of the line. The Pot Equipment Technician will safely tear down, refurbish, and reassemble various components such as rolls, pot equipment, tension levelers, and air knives. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide support to both operations and maintenance during down time periods and may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed to support overall team and plant performance. The Pot Equipment Techncian is expected to work day shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled or unscheduled overtime. As the construction phase progresses, the shift may change to a 4 on and 4 off schedule.

Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance experience supporting exposed automotive galvalnizing equipment.
• Fundamental mechanical theory knowledge, including the ability to apply mechanical principles to industrial equipment and processes.
• Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems associated with exposed automotive galvanizing equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic galvanizing line operations.
• Crane and forklift experience.
• Welding, burning, and mechanical skills.
• Experience building Hot Dip Galvanizing Pot Equipment.
