Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking an Electrical Maintenance teammate who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. The selected teammate will ensure the success of the team by SAFELY performing Preventative and Corrective maintenance on steel mill equipment and systems. During construction, electrical maintenance teammates will help build the mill and create our computerized maintenance management system to ensure proper design criteria and equipment reliability.
Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Proposing and implementing innovative solutions to challenges in the steel making process with a focus on safety, reliability, quality, costs, and project management.
- Performing electrical troubleshooting and periodic maintenance on equipment.
- Demonstrating the ability to understand electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Demonstrating an understanding of electrical theory, PLC control systems, Variable frequency drives, and motor control systems.
- Training teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment.
- Working nights, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two-year degree in engineering or will obtain equivalent degree in 2025-2026.
- Currently in process of completing a Nucor Internship (or) A Nucor Internship Rotation has been completed in the past 12 months (OR) Currently enrolled in the Kanawha Valley FAME program and will obtain certification of completion in 2026 (OR) Currently enrolled in the MAMC/ Mountwest SMART program and will obtain certification of completion in 2026.
- Understanding electrical theory and it’s application in an industrial facility.
