EAF Technician

Basic Job Functions:

The EAF Technician position assists in the operation and maintenance of our two electric arc furnaces and supporting equipment. The role of the EAF Technician is to assist the EAF Lead in safely overseeing all aspects of producing quality steel from the Electric Arc Furnace. This includes daily operations, understanding cost, knowledge of scrap and residuals, scheduling, operation of equipment, tapping, assisting maintenance, and coordinating the flow of the shop. The EAF Technician will be expected to learn to operate the EAF and manage slag chemistries. This individual is also responsible for the continuous development of themselves and teammates working under their mentorship. Working a rotating shift including nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime is required.

Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Working around molten steel and slag.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment (overhead crane and forklift).
• Restocking consumables.
• Keeping a clean and safe work environment.

​​​​​​​Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Minimum Qualifications:

1 year melt shop experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

• EAF experence 
• DC experience
