Caster Process Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

The Caster Process Engineer provides a support role in the department's decision making in relation to operations and maintenance of the Caster as well as supporting equipment. The Engineer provides process development and technical support operations for the Caster to ensure optimization of manufacturing processes for steel sheets, customer-specific requirements for new high-end quality steel sheets products, manufacturing reliability, operations, and maintenance requirements. Using data integration and statistical analysis, the Process Engineer monitors and analyzes the process and equipment conditions to draw conclusions driving equipment maintenance, improvements, and upgrades. 

The Caster Process Engineer develops and conducts technical training for the Caster Team as required for safe and effective operation to provide quality steel on time. In addition to other related duties, the Caster Process Engineer will assume a leading role in process improvement as well as coordinating quality and cost reduction efforts. 

Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four year degree in Engineering or a directly related field of study.
• Two years of heavy industry experience in engineering process support for Casting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SQL databases.
• Experience with ibaPDA and ibaAnalyzer software.
• Technical training experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams.
