Basic Job Functions:

We are seeking a self-motivated person who enjoys learning new technologies, can think outside the box, and understand impacts at an enterprise level. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of what they create and hold others accountable to the same high standards, so the end goal of adding value with long term strategy is met.


Our teams are cross-functional, self-organizing, and highly autonomous. You’ll be working on an agile team with stakeholders in a highly collaborative manner. This approach requires a huge amount of teamwork. You will be part of lunch and learn sessions, peer code reviews, pair programming, and other activities to foster constant learning. You will participate in innovation days for exploring new technologies or ideas and will be provided with opportunities for attending conferences and community events.


Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US. Nucor is not providing a sponsorship for this position now or in the future. Candidates may be required to travel occasionally for up to a week.


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development using Visual Basic.NET, C#, or Java
  2. Experience developing applications through the software development life cycle
  3. Complete a programmer skills assessment test
  4. Demonstrates understanding of key concepts in application architecture and software development life cycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated competence in one or more of the following technologies or concepts: OOP, TDD, SOLID, WPF, XML, XSLT, ERP, Entity Framework, Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET, Azure or other web/cloud based programming platforms, Fortran conversion to C#
  2. Degree or professional certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Structural Engineering
  3. Knowledgeable about pre-engineered metal building detailing, design, or manufacturing practices and processes
  4. Knowledgeable about the Tekla Structures Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform or other 3D spatial development technologies
  5. Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server as a source control and team collaboration
  6. Experience working within the principles of Scrum or other agile development practice
