Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Tubular Products-Trinity is seeking applicants for Electrical/Automation Technician position(s) for its maintenance department. The Electrical/Automation technician will safely provide support to the maintenance and operations teams by improving automation of equipment, perform preventative, and predictive maintenance as well as breakdown and corrective maintenance as necessary in order to improve the production equipment and process during the course of normal production hours. Duties include, but are not limited to: PLC programming, repair calls, preventative maintenance (PM) tasks, equipment troubleshooting and installation, root cause analysis, and any other necessary task(s) that are outside of the normal capabilities of production personnel. The successful candidate will demonstrate the willingness and ability to troubleshoot, use good judgment, and make proper decisions in compliance with safety policies (JHAs, SJPs, LOTO) throughout the facility and with equipment used and maintained, all of which are necessary for meeting job expectations and the prevention of downtime. General mechanical knowledge is necessary as well.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Two-year technical degree in electrical or controls field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance
  • At least 3 years troubleshooting and modifying PLC programming
  • Strong AC/DC motor and controls experience
  • Experience replacing and installing AC/DC motor drives.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and off shifts.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of LOTOTO
  • Willing to work overtime to meet training requirements and increase skillset as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year electrical or controls Engineering Degree or Diploma
  • 5 yrs PLC programming and controls experience
  • Strong hydraulic knowledge and experience
