Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  1. Auditing of environmental compliance.
  2. Completion of Air Emissions Reports, Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Reports, and SARA Reports.
  3. Preparation of applications for environmental related permits.
  4. Tracking of regulatory issues with potential impacts to our business units.
  5. Train employees on environmental best management practices, recordkeeping, and sample collection techniques.
  6. Assist with project management oversight of contractors working on remediation projects.
  7. Assist with property environmental due diligence.
  8. Evaluate and implement new technologies as required for compliance.
  9. Manage environmental risk with respect to operational practices (on-site) and recycling facilities for environmental sensitive materials (off-site).  
  10. Participate in government relations efforts on issues facing the metals recycling industry in Florida.
  11. Develop greater environmental awareness in all employees.
  12. Promote the benefits to the community provided by recycling and recycling facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related physical science.
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance related environmental work. (RCRA, EPCRA, TSCA, CWA and SARA)
  3. Travel Required within US: 30 - 50%

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ability to manage many projects with shifting priorities.
  2. Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint a must. Experience with MS Access and drawing software a plus.
  3. Self-starter, exhibiting independent thinking skills with strong initiative.
  4. Coordination with all levels within the company’s hierarchy.
