Fork Lift Operator - ALL SHIFTS AVAILABLE - DAYS/NIGHTS/WEEKENDS

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

o    Weekday Days – 6 AM to 4:30 PM Monday thru Thursday – Base rate pay starting at $16.00 per hour 
o    Weekday Nights – 4 PM to 2:30 AM Monday thru Thursday – Base rate starting at $16.00 per hour plus additional $2.00 shift differential paid
o    Weekend Nights – 5 PM to 5:30 AM Friday thru Monday Morning – additional $5.00 per hour on top of base rate plus extra $2.00 per hour shift differential

What You’ll Do
Operating with a safety mindset, you’ll accurately load flatbeds with customer orders for shipping, while maintaining the yard area in a clean and organized manner.

Your Responsibilities
•    Clear completed orders from the shop and load machines with raw material.
•    Load trucks with customer orders as set by the schedule developed by the Operations Manager and Scheduler safely and accurately.
•    Perform QA/QC checks prior to load shipping.
•    Perform daily preflight on forklift check such items as (not limited to): oil level, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and do routine preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation of the forklift.
•    Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
•    Maintain the yard area in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
•    Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
•    Other items as assigned by Operations Manager.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
•    Must have a high school diploma, GED or local/state equivalent
 

Preferred Qualifications:

What Will Put Your Application Ahead
•    Prior forklift experience
•    Prior experience using a spotter truck to move trailers around the yard preferred. On-the-job training will be provided as this is a job expectation
•    Must be a team player

What You Need to Know
•    Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position
•    Overtime hours are available
•    Must be able to load unusual lengths and bends to fit safely on a flatbed trailer
•    Some moderate to heavy lifting may be necessary
•    Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold
•    Work in hot/cold, wet/dry environments and in the weather as needed
