Basic Job Functions:
- Use structural engineering principles and our proprietary software to design steel joists and joist girders to ensure safety of the public
- Collaborate with Project Manager, Production Coordinator, and others to ensure on-time delivery of products
- Provide internal and external customers with engineering judgements and decisions
- Give Detailers guidance to produce field-use drawings that reflect the design team’s intent
- Proactively encourage architects and engineers to specify our products with confidence
- Promote our products by being involved in business development activities such as direct engagement with industry professionals, delivering lunch-and-learn presentations, and being an exhibitor at trade shows
- Continuously develop yourself and invest in others to make the Division more effective
- Willing and able to travel occasionally for business purposes
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline (from an ABET or CEAB-accredited engineering program), or licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with related design experience
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam by start date
- Commitment and ability to obtain a professional engineering license, if not already licensed, when appropriate experience is gained
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with emphasis in Structures
- Licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Structural Engineer (SE)
- Proficiency in structural steel design
