Application Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

• Prepare Structural calculations packages that include light gage steel design, wind analysis for components and cladding, fastener qualification, etc.
• Review project drawings and other documents for design intent to ensure IPG product is being applied in the correct manner.
• Assist with product and design questions form Architects, Designers, Sales Team, Customer Service, Estimating and Detailers
• Assist management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
• Prepare Product certifications and technical documents.
• Participate in sales calls and job site visits as required
• Prepare and present job site reports as necessary
• Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Structural, Civil or Mechanical)
• Current EIT or ability to obtain within 9 months
• Minimum three years’ experience in the building products industry
• Must be self-motivated, creative, and willing to learn and adapt
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and the integration of the façade to the structure

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple time sensitive tasks and projects
• Exemplify a “Can Do Attitude” 

Preferences:

• Licensed PE
• Knowledge of all NIPG product applications and limitations
• Extensive knowledge with current building code requirements
• Understanding of manufacturing process and fabrication techniques of NIPG products
