Safety Coordinator -CBC

Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Safety Coordinator is to lead the safety program for CBC Steel Buildings.  This person will continue to develop and provide safety training and maintain all safety, health, accident and worker’s compensation records.  This person will also help establish safety policies, monitor OSHA compliance and make recommendations for safety practices/improvements.  Be a contributing and integral member of Nucor’s local, regional, product group and corporate-wide safety teams.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership or involvement with Safety Teams/Safety Committee
  • Positive recommendation from current supervisor/manager

  • Works with the leadership team to continually look for ways to reduce costs and/or improve efficiencies.  Shows an interest in the business and is focused on doing whatever he/she can do to improve profitability. 
  • Has the pertinent experience, skills and technical set to excel at the job.  Learns new skills quickly and has the ability to train others. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel several times per year, up to a week at a time for safety meetings, audits and best marking.
  • Must be willing to work required hours, including flexibility for second and third shifts, and to be on-call in emergency situations 24/7.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extended training in Safety or related field, OR equivalent experience
  • Prior safety leadership experience in a steel fabricating environment
  • Knowledge and experience in workers compensation
  • OSHA VPP experience
