FITTER

Basic Job Functions:

The Fitter will lay out and fit structural parts in a production environment. Perform tasks as directed by the Line Supervisor and/or Line Group Leader.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong commitment to Safety in all job aspects with a commitment to quality.
• Good math skills with ability to interpret shop drawings.

• Analyze information and initiate decision making in a team environment and desire to take initiative and work to achieve departmental / divisional goals.
• Promptly respond to assist team members on the shop floor as needed.

• Be able to obtain different weld certifications as needed.

• Maintain a safe working environment and exhibit good personal safety attitude.
• Be able to safely operate overhead crane.
• Be able to use measuring equipment (tape measure, squares, etc.).
• Be able to follow written and/or verbal instruction.
• Committed to a high volume, excellent quality, low cost, accident free and pleasant work environment.

Preferences:

• Must have fitter experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of computer generated print reading.
