Technical Representative

Basic Job Functions:

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Technical Representative.  Main functions include but are not limited to the following: 1) Serve as primary point of contact between Berkeley and assigned customers on all quality and technical issues.  2) Have a thorough understanding of customer’s end uses and which key product parameters are
necessary for material to be produced to satisfy the customer’s needs.  3) Educate and help solve customer issues including the application and development of new products based on their current and future needs.  4) Effectively communicate customer issues and utilize statistical tools to lead quality and continuous improvement efforts throughout the mill. 5) Understand customer orders, mill requirements, and work closely with Inside Sales and provide metallurgical assistance, training, and support.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Degree in Metallurgy or other related technical field of study or equivalent work experience.
2.    Five years minimum experience in the steel industry.
3.    Willingness to travel extensively

Preferred Qualifications:

1.    Three years prior experience effectively developing new applications or grades and servicing customer’s material needs or issues.
2.    Knowledge of flat rolled industry specifications such as:  ASTM, JIS, automotive, etc.
3.    Experience with circle gridding and formability analysis.
4.    Proven leadership experience with multi-functional and interdisciplinary teams.
