Basic Job Functions:

American Buildings Company, a Nucor Company, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Quality Service Representative.   Successful candidate must be able to perform the following, but not limited to: 

  • Investigate, document, and report all quality, service, and product performance issues- discrepancies, back charge errors.
  • Receive phone call from the field and gather necessary information to document on a QSR form to expedite the necessary materials to the field
  • Communicate with builders and erectors on a regular basis, and demonstrate a problem solving skills through a dialogue with the field. A question and answer process will be common to sort out problems and define the most efficient and cost effective solution.
  • Will be primarily responsible for initiating the solution to the problem or assure being faced at the job site. This involvement may include pro-actively involving several individuals from other departments.
  • Identify trends and problems, and recommend solutions with a primary focus being on represent the needs or the steel erector and builder
  • Lead participate in weekly quality meetings
  • Responsible for negotiating back charges in conjunction with ABC’s Policy Manual, standard Terms and Conditions as well as the MBMA common industry practices. Common sense rules will be applied in these situations
  • May make occasional trips to jobsites for trouble shooting and may be involved in training of steel erection crews
  • Provide metal building erection support to builder

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Background in computer use with skills in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word.
  • Ability to travel to job sites when required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed and on short notice to satisfy the needs of the customer.
  • 1 year in construction experience, detailing, engineering, or a related field
  • Blue print reading and interpretation of blue prints.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction, or Engineering related Fields.
  • Prior Customer Service or detailing experience.
