Basic Job Functions:

  • Coordinate monthly closing of financial systems and general ledger by ensuring accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and inventory systems will close and be posted to the general ledger in a timely manner. Ensure all journal entries are posted to the ledger, and that monthly financial statements are accurately produced and distributed to division leadership, Nucor Corporate and other financial statement users on a timely basis.  Responsible for monitoring effectiveness of internal controls in place for each of the systems to ensure that financial statements are materially accurate and prepared on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that all Group Services departmental expense summaries accurately reflect costs for the correct teammates included in each department and related other group services expenses and that these costs are charged to the proper NBG/NFP companies at the appropriate sharing percentages.
  • Prepare/review all other monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for ABC in compliance with Nucor Corporate financial, tax & treasury reporting requirements.  These include but are not limited to the OA, Structured Trial Balance, FDM reporting, budget and forecast reporting.  
  • Analyze financial results; make recommendations as to areas where changes can be made to improve profitability, cost-effectiveness and asset management.
  • Prepare or review analyses of significant general ledger accounts on a monthly basis; these may include ROA accruals, payroll accruals and payroll tax liability accounts and all insurance reserve accounts.  Determine adequacy of recorded amounts; communicate/coordinate information flow with operating tm’s and insurance company representatives pertaining to insurance cases and ensure that appropriate action is taken. 
  • Work closely with functional managers to ensure accruals and prepaid expenses are recorded and monitored appropriately.
  • Administer division sales and use tax process including tax filings.
  • Assist Controller and division leadership with projects as they arise.
  • Participate in a significant manner with regard to internal/external audits.  Prepare or assemble supporting documents for all balance sheet accounts and significant income statement accounts and assist auditors with other requests for information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in financial-related positions with solid understanding of GAAP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA
  • Prior accounting/financial leadership experience
