Basic Job Functions:


Nucor Harris Rebar Texas is seeking a leader for the position of Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be a leader capable of ensuring the Nucor Harris Rebar - Dayton delivers on our commitment to become the world’s safest steel company. The candidate will lead and develop a capable and motivated team that achieves the operational excellence necessary to meet the technical and commercial needs of our customers. This will require the candidate to lead with a clear vision and strategy and empower their team to execute and meet all objectives in safety, quality, costs, productivity, reliability, scheduling, profitability, and team development. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively throughout the division leadership team to inspire the entire operation. The successful candidate must be a champion of Nucor Culture and be able to successfully continue to instill and cultivate that culture with all teammates.

Basic Job Functions:


Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 
•    Aiding in incident investigations and other continual improvement processes.
•    Working closely with contractors to ensure exceptional contractor safety management.
•    Record keeping, including tracking, and reviewing safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
•    Lead, nurture, and advance the Nucor culture.
•    Must be willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays.
•    Work closely with peers across the Texas region, Nucor Harris, and Nucor.
•    Must adhere to and ensure implementation of Harris Rebar’s safety programs and standards to achieve the company goal of zero accidents.
•    Manage workforce levels of all shop-related personnel and oversee the scheduling of their work hours, including managing overtime hours, so that customer needs are met, and costs are managed effectively.
•    Oversee the hiring, training, motivation, evaluation, and work of all production teammates.
•    Inventory management adequate to meet customer commitments and meet expected ROA.
•    Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.
•    Oversee proper authorization and purchase of needed replacement parts, spares and responsible for suggesting, planning, and executing capital expenditures, so that the shop can operate with the most up-to-date and efficient plant and equipment possible.
•    Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
•    Establish accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation.
•    Ensure that appropriate corporate controls and policies are implemented and adhered to.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Three years of leadership experience in an operations environment  
•    Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
•    Ability and desire to work in a hands-on, industrial environment.
