Basic Job Functions:
The Automation Controls Technician’s first priority will be nurturing a safety-minded culture by encouraging teammates to identify safety concerns within the department and assist as needed with the elimination of these issues. Responsibilities also include working within and across maintenance and production groups to create, modify and improve our steel-making process, with the goals of improving efficiency, production and reliability of our equipment.
Other responsibilities include prioritizing daily work, breakdowns, as well as team training and development. The qualified candidate must be willing to travel for training and business related needs and be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and be on call during off hours.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to write, modify and troubleshoot logic code, primarily using Control Logix/Studio 5000 platforms.
- Ability to write and modify our HMIs in FactoryTalk SE applications.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical diagrams.
- Demonstrated understanding of industrial communications protocols.
- Works well in a team environment on projects and upgrades, bringing suggestions to the table.
- Willing to continue to develop technical skills, including introducing new technologies, when applicable.
- 5 years experience in industrial electrical maintenance field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or four year technical degree or equivalent experience
- Familiar with code/data used with encoders and other related motion position components.
- Ability to Configure IP, Subnet, Default gateway and DNS Server configurations.
- Experience with servo and robotics programming and controls.
