Who we're looking for
A current university student enrolled in a degree seeking program studying Computer Science, Information Systems, or another business-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that will not complete their degree program prior to the semester in which they will co-op or intern with us.

- Have experience in customer-facing service work through volunteering, employment, and/or extracurricular activities,
- Are a service-minded, team-oriented, driven, and passionate problem-solver with a strong attention to detail,
- Are a curious investigator with a strong desire to learn more about information technology and our company culture as part of a Fortune 100 company,
- Are someone with strong communication skills and the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Are an organized go-getter with proven ability to balance multiple priorities at once
What you'll do
- Assist in functional team duties, including systems integration design, development and debugging; vendor software setup and configuration; report writing; end user support and training; and technology research and process mapping.
- Document end user support materials such as system diagrams and workflows as well as solution articles and video training content
- Participate in business process analysis and technology proof of concepts
- Assist in gathering software requirements from various business units and finding solutions to technology related issues
- Develop and test new software integrations
- Assist with monitoring and reporting tasks for websites, system alerts and security awareness
- Work on assigned tickets or user stories within our fast-paced high volume collaborative team environment
- Add real world skills to your resume within your assigned IT track (BI, DevOps, ITOps, QA)
- Network with other interns and mentors across the Nucor and DJJ IT Teams

Preferred Tech Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft® operating systems, software, and monitoring tools
- Scripting languages and object-oriented programming concepts and languages
- Knowledge of databases, data analysis, and report design concepts
- Knowledge of computer hardware, imaging, software installation
- Understanding of computer networks
- Linux/Windows server platform, virtualization, cloud computing concepts
- Familiarity with programming languages
- Familiarity with SEO, UX and use cases for web-based application optimization
- Experience performing requirements gathering, process mapping and functional testing
- Familiarity with ITIL concepts and IT ticketing systems
