Basic Job Functions:

Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Construction Solutions Services Manager of Building Solutions.  This position will report to the Director – Construction Solutions Services (CSS).
Job Functions:

Manage technical and marketing strategy and tactics, as directed, to positively influence the use of steel for building design and construction in the marketplace, specifically as it relates to Nucor’s product offerings.
1.    Develop strategic relationships in the architecture, engineering, contractor and owner communities to influence the use of steel in projects that may not be competitively considering steel as a viable option.
2.    While leveraging relationships, influence the use towards strategic Nucor product offerings for buildings that have been prioritized for market penetration.
3.    Speak on a national stage and at local levels as a trusted authority on steel’s role in vertical construction and general construction marketplace expertise.
4.    Lead the efforts of steel’s growth for buildings via both participation and leadership positions in trade associations, technical committees, and decision-maker-led cohorts (AISC, AISI, SEA, AIA, AGC and others) which will influence the current and next generation of decision making professionals.
5.    Build on our existing partnerships with key customers and identify growth markets and customers as we expand to enhanced structural solutions for jumbo and high strength column applications, initially.
6.    Develop and oversee technical solution creation for unique project challenges utilizing the latest structural innovations for steel in the marketplace.
7.    Work with CSS Director to explore competitive threats to the steel market for vertical construction (wood and concrete) both nationwide and regional specific challenges while developing and executing a long-term strategy to combat those threats.
8.    Leverage cohesive collaboration between the divisions strategically identified for building construction (beam, plate, tubular, building products – for example) and the overall enterprise for competitive pricing collaboration in the conceptual phase of business development and possible cross-divisional approach to enhanced solution offerings.
9.    Identify future trends and opportunities for growth in market sectors and individual product offerings to enhance the value that Nucor delivers to the marketplace.
10.    Leverage CRM to quantify and measure all activities executed to assess long-term success and viability of efforts for both technical and market promotion to key decision makers.
11.    Leverage full marketing communications tools to manage the execution of a full email/web/video/social media campaign to targeted decision makers for building solutions.
12.    Build a collaborative relationship with sales managers (as prioritized) for key customer collaboration both individually and at the fabricator association level for aligned relationship management to support their sales roles and complement our CSS priorities.
13.    Gather and communicate competitive information and market analytics for forecasting purposes in the building marketplace.


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.  Master’s degree preferred.
2.    Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in steel design or construction.  
3.    Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.    Existing knowledge base of the construction market and its customers; with a focus on engineering, architects and building owners.
2.    Proficiency with CRM solutions as a tool to both manage and measure program success both short and long term.
