Basic Job Functions:

Develops and implements effective troubleshooting and repair practices, and predictive/preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant equipment. Successful candidates for this position will gain experience on, and be responsible for, a broad range mechanical and electrical equipment.  This position involves continual communication, both verbally and in writing, between multiple groups and disciplines regarding plant and equipment issues. This succesful teammate must support plant operations and works closely with all other departments. This position must help drive continuous improvements in production tracking, process efficiency and plant automation. This teammate must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Perform Mechanical and Electrical repairs to all shop equipment and tools as necessary
  • Work directly with production personnel to repair equipment
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and symbols and modify graphic drawings as needed
  • Complete work orders and preventative maintenance forms
  • Perform a daily walk through of assigned areas 
  • Repair emergency problems with minimal downtime
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Record every intervention for daily and future analysis which includes maintenance time consumed and materials issued from the storeroom
  • Perform necessary activities during PM days
  • Troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Supervisor and Manager recommendation
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in industrial maintenance.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial maintenance experience which includes welding, overhead crane operation, inspection and repair.
  • PLC's system building, programming and troubleshooting experiences (AB).
  • Knowledge in diagnoses and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic energy systems, electric motors and circuits.
  • Willing to work rotating shift.
  • Technical School or formal Training
  • Variable Frequency Drive experience
  • Experience with HVAC Systems
  • Knowledge of PID/closed loop control systems
  • Knowledge of Networking and communications
  • Experience with HMI Design and Programming
