Basic Job Functions:


  • Utilize fork lift, overhead and jib cranes to move material.
  • Utilize oxygen/acetylene torch and MIG welder.
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including welding symbols.
  • Perform in-process inspections to assure quality standard.
  • Accurately measure and mark material for fitting/cutting/welding according to blueprints.
  • Ability to operate a cutting torch, MIG welder, hand grinder, and other hand and power tools.
  • Operate in a manner that will result in reducing waste and optimizing production.
  • Work as a team member by helping other teammates to achieve production objectives.
  • Communicate information during shift changes to ensure that quality and production objectives are followed.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma.
  • A minimum of one year previous experience dedicated to steel fabrication.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the associated technical disciplines, including welding, fitting, machine operation, material identification, etc.
  • Must be able to read and interpret structural drawings.
