Basic Job Functions:

The responsibilities of the Melt Shop Day Supervisor include, but are not limited to,  

assisting in the overall growth and development of the team while encouraging and building mutual trust and respect with the team. Working with other departments to ensure consistency and long-term success of the division, this will include cultivating a culture of ownership, engagement, and teamwork to drive continuous improvement. This position will support the NYS strategic initiatives by improving safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity, and profitability.  The Melt Shop Day Supervisor will serve as a resource for the operating crews and will establish expectations, develop best practices for the area, and ensure consistency.  In addition, this position will also participate in long term strategic planning for the department and division. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.  The successful candidate in this position may lead one of the various areas of the Melt Shop (EAF, LMF/Degasser, Caster, Refractory, or Scrap).

Minimum Requirements:

Demonstrated experience leading teams and projects

Minimum two years’ experience in operations leadership

Maintenance system and techniques - Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.

Positive Problem solving - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implementing positive solutions.

Preferences:

Related degree or equivalent experience
