Basic Job Functions:

 Universal Industrial Gases, LLC. (UIG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor and a well-established, global engineer, constructor, supplier and operator of air separation plants and related equipment and services, based in Bethlehem, PA.  UIG owns and operates production plants across the USA which supply both Nucor steel sites and third-party clients 24/7 with tonnage quantities of oxygen, nitrogen and argon as well as exporting liquid cryogenic products by road tanker.

 

UIG is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will be primarily responsible for leading all UIG’s procurement activities for materials, equipment, consumables and related engineering services. Is the face of UIG to both current and potential suppliers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing bid packages and purchasing specifications, evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating contracts, managing suppliers and supplier relationships, developing new suppliers, creating and issuing purchase orders, and executing projects from order placement through shipment and delivery.
  • Maintaining a database of qualified suppliers and key contacts for UIG purchases. Supporting the UIG Team to evaluate suppliers and potential new suppliers for safety, quality, commercial terms, and technical capabilities and compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining reporting systems for engineering vendor drawing receipt, scheduling equipment inspections and establishing schedules and acceptance and releasing of shipments.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a capital equipment purchasing leadership role.
  2. Willingness to travel, including international travel; on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
  • International customer relations experience.
