Mechanical Internship

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel, a Fortune 100 Company and recently named Fortune’s best workplace in Manufacturing and Production is seeking candidates for our internship program in our Auburn, NY location.  The successful candidate will possess a basic knowledge of electrical principles.

Planned projects are listed, but not limited to:

• Develop a thorough and comprehensive understanding of industrial safety
• Work alongside Nucor Mechanics performing preventive and corrective maintenance
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various hydraulic, pneumatic and power transmission control systems throughout the Rolling Mill & Melt Shop
• Fabrication and building projects

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Participation in a course of study in Mechanical Technology or equivalent
• GPA of 3.0 or better in Mechanical Courses
• Written recommendation from advisor
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of a safety course(s)
• Practical work experience
